Your photos are yours. We collect as little as we can, keep images only briefly when needed to return a result, and never sell your information. Here's exactly what that means.

This Privacy Policy describes how 2021076 Ontario Corporation ("Mend Memories," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Mend Memories app for iPhone and iPad and the website at mendmemories.com (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
The Service is operated by 2021076 Ontario Corporation, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. For any privacy question or request, contact us at help@mendmemories.com. If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, see Your rights and choices below.
We use Sign in with Apple solely to create and secure your account, so your purchases and remaining mends stay associated with you across sessions and devices. Through this, we receive a unique identifier assigned to you by Apple. We do not request your name or email address, and we don't set up a separate username or password. The only time we'd receive your email is if you choose to write to our support address.
When you select a photo and tap a restoration action, that photo is transmitted securely through our backend to our AI image-processing provider so the restoration can be performed and the finished image returned to your device. We use your photo for one purpose only: to carry out the restoration you asked for. Temporary input and output images may be held by our backend while a restoration job is running and for short-term result recovery. We don't build profiles, perform facial recognition, create biometric templates, or derive identity information from your photos.
Mend Memories lets users voluntarily select or capture photos for restoration and enhancement. These photos may contain faces. We do not use face data to identify a person, authenticate a user, build a biometric profile, track users, or train our own facial recognition system.
What face data we collect: when you choose to restore a photo, the app uploads the selected photo to our backend service. If that photo contains a face, facial features visible in the photo are processed only as part of generating the restored or enhanced image you requested.
How we use face data: we use the uploaded photo, including any visible faces, only to perform your requested photo restoration or enhancement, preserve the identity and appearance of people in the photo, return the generated result to the app, support short-term result recovery, and troubleshoot failed generation requests.
Sharing with third parties: photos may be sent to our image-processing provider, fal.ai, to generate the requested restoration or enhancement. We do not sell face data and do not share face data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.
Storage and retention: Mend Memories does not retain face data indefinitely. Uploaded photos and generated results may be temporarily stored by our backend while a restoration job is running and for short-term result recovery after completion. The app clears stored input and output image data after the result is acknowledged by the app, after a failed or expired job, or automatically after the short recovery period expires. Our current recovery period is up to 24 hours after completion unless the result is acknowledged sooner.
Third-party storage: our image-processing provider receives the photo only to perform the requested image edit. We configure provider storage for immediate expiration in production where supported. Provider processing and transient storage are limited to delivering the requested image-processing service.
Subscriptions, premium action unlocks, and top-up packs are sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never receive or store your payment card information. We receive limited transaction and entitlement information from Apple (for example, that a subscription is active, or that a top-up was purchased) so we can deliver the mends and features you've paid for. Apple's handling of your information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We don't include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software in the app. If you've opted in through your iOS settings, Apple may share standard, aggregated crash and performance diagnostics with us through App Store Connect. You can turn this off any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your device.
Restorations are performed off your device by a frontier AI image model. We want to be specific about this, because it's the one place your photo leaves your phone.
By selecting a photo and tapping a restoration action, you ask us to send that photo for processing and you consent to this. If you don't want a photo processed this way, don't submit it.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share information only with the providers that make the app work, and only as needed:
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or the public. If our business is ever involved in a merger or acquisition, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
We keep your account identifier and your purchase/entitlement records for as long as your account exists, so your purchases and remaining mends keep working. Uploaded photos and restored results are temporary: they are cleared after the result is acknowledged by the app, after a failed or expired job, or automatically after the short recovery period expires. Our current recovery period is up to 24 hours after completion unless the result is acknowledged sooner. We do not retain face data indefinitely.
You can delete your account any time from inside the app: open Settings → Delete Account. This removes your account identifier and the records associated with it. Temporary restoration images are cleared under the retention rules above. You can also email us at help@mendmemories.com and we'll handle the deletion for you. Note that deleting your account doesn't cancel an active subscription — manage subscriptions in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device.
Mend Memories is intended for adults restoring their own family photographs. The Service isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact help@mendmemories.com and we'll delete it.
We're based in Canada, and our providers (including fal.ai and Google Cloud) may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, transfers of personal information out of your region are made under appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. The simplest way to exercise most of these is to delete your account in the app, or email help@mendmemories.com. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Photos are transmitted over encrypted connections, we hold as little data as possible, and temporary job images are cleared after delivery, failure, expiry, or the short recovery period described above. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but minimizing what we collect is our first line of defense.
If we make changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we'll provide additional notice in the app or on this site. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
